Zaryadye Park, Beautiful City Park in Moscow

IPHEDIA.com - Zaryadye Park is a beautiful urban park landscape with various facilities located next to Red Square in Moscow, Russia, located in the former Hotel Rossiya.

The garden is a new type of public space created by an international team of architects, engineers, landscape designers and other experts. Here, the concepts of nature and technology, education and entertainment, history and modernity come together and complement each other.

Zaryadye Park was the first public park to be built in Moscow in over 50 years, formerly the Soviet Friendship Garden was built for the 1957 Youth and Student Festival.

The park was inaugurated on September 9, 2017 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. In 2018, Time Magazine ranked Zaryadye Park a list of World's Best Places.

The park's facilities cover nearly 78,000 square meters, of which 25,200 square meters are occupied by a multipurpose concert hall. The park also has underground parking for 430 cars.

Plans for a new garden were first put forward in 2012 when the city of Moscow and its chief architect Sergey Kuznetsov held a design competition to turn the historically privatized Zaryadye commercial area into a public park.

An international design consortium led by Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS + R) with Hargreaves Associates, Citymakers and Buro Happold Engineering selected from 90 submissions from 27 different countries. The competition design chosen seeks to create a park that has Russian and Moscow heritage.

The main feature park is its facilities that are hidden under the landscape, while the park itself is divided into four climatic zones, namely forest, grasslands, tundra and floodplain.

These zones are arranged in terraces that drop from northeast to southwest, with each lining next to them to create a total of 14,000 square meters of programmable space integrated into the landscape; nature and architecture act as one.

Visitors can enjoy views cantilever river 70 meters above the Moscow River, a media center, nature center, restaurants, markets, two amphitheaters and a philharmonic concert hall. In this park visitors can enjoy a beautiful view Kremlin from a floating bridge over the Moskva River. (as/ip)
