THE ALTON BARNES WHITE HORSE in England

In 1812, a farmer named Robert Pile paid £ 20 to a man named Jack the Painter (a painter) to design and cut a horse to a hillside in Wiltshire, England. This is one of nine horse paintings cut into the hills in this area.

No one knows why the design was carved from the hill. It was then packed with chalk so that it stood out prominently white. Jack the Painter then subcontracts the work to others. The Alton Barnes White Horse Monument was finally completed with a horse about 55 meters (180 feet) high and 49 meters (160 feet) long.

THE THUMB in France

"The Thumb" monument is located in Paris, France. "Le Pouce" (thumb), is an artistic creation by the famous French sculptor César Baldaccini. This big thumb was designed in 1965 with a weight of 18 tons and a height of 12 meters (39 feet). (*)
