IPHEDIA.com - Antelope Canyon, a deep and wide valley between two steep cliffs or commonly called canyons. This canyon is located in Page, Coconino County, Arizona, United States.

Antelope Canyon is a unique tourist spot formed by wind and water that has eroded Navajo Sand Rock over a very long period of time.

This canyon area is included in Navajo Indian Reservation complex or largest reservoir for Indian Dine Tribe from North America which is commonly called Navajo or Navaho.

Flash floods and sub-aerial processes accelerate the process of rock erosion. As a result, beautiful cracks and fractures were formed indirectly carved into canyon wall.

Antelope Canyon is divided into two, Antelope Canyon above (The Crack) and Antelope Canyon below (The Corkscrew). Each section has a different pattern of stone fractures. Local residents refer to  Upper Antelope Gorge as "Tse 'bighanilini" or place where water flows through rocks".

Antelope Canyon is at an altitude of 4000 feet above the river with a stone wall that rises as high as 120 feet. Antelope Canyon below is called "Hasdestwazi" or spiral rock.

Antelope Canyon walls can change the reflection of light from the sun into a variety of beautiful colors. This is what attracts the attention of tourists both from within and from abroad.

Here, tourists usually come to travel, hike or camp to see canyon firsthand. In summer, tourists can see exposure to sunlight through gaps in canyon.

Exposure to bright sunlight into canyon illuminates gaps that were previously dark. Locals call this event "A god speaking from the high". (*)
