Tivoli Garden, Most Popular Amusement Park in Denmark

IPHEDIA.com - If you go to Denmark don't miss the Tivoli Garden, the famous playground in Copenhagen. The park in Denmark was opened on August 15, 1843 and is the second oldest amusement park in the world after Dyrehavsbakken in Klampenborg.

Tivoli has also been named the second most popular seasonal park in the world, one of the most visited parks in Scandinavia and fourth in Europe after Disneyland Paris, Europa-Park Rust and Efteling.

This amusement park was first called "Tivoli & Vauxhall". Tivoli's founder, Georg Carstensen (born 1812 and died 1857), obtained a five-year charter to create Tivoli by telling King Christian VIII that "when people entertain themselves, they don't think about politics".

The king gave Carstensen the use of about 15 hectares (61,000 m²) of fortified glacis outside Vesterport (West Gate) for annual rent. Until the 1850s, Tivoli was outside the city, accessible from the city only through Vesterport.

This park is also famous for its wooden roller coaster, Rutschebanen, or as some people call it Bjergbanen (The Mountain Coaster), built in 1914. Uniquely, one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the world is still in operation.

From the start, Tivoli included a variety of attractions to pamper its visitors, in the form of buildings with exotic Orient imaginary styles, such as theaters, band outlets, restaurants and cafes, flower gardens, and mechanical amusement rides, such as merry-go-rounds, primitive scenery trains and many others .
