Machu Picchu a historic site that is also a tourist attraction located about 70 kilometers northwest of Cusco at an altitude of 2,350 meters above the Urubamba Valley, Peru.

The pre-Columbian Inca ruins city was built in 1450, but was abandoned a hundred years later when the Spaniards succeeded in conquering the Inca Kingdom. The main building is Machu Picchu, in the form of Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Three-Window Room. These places are called the Sacred District of Machu Picchu. This site was again found by archeologists from Yale Hiram Bingham III University in 1911. Since then, Machu Picchu has become an attractive tourist attraction for local and foreign tourists. Machu Picchu, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, and also one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was built in an ancient Incan style with polished stone walls.
