Indonesian Tin Museum, The World Heritage Trail in Bangka Belitung

 

Indonesian Tin Museum occupies the official residence of the Hoofdt Administration Banka Tin Winning (BTW) on Jalan Ahmad Yani no 179 Pangkalpinang, which has a high historical value for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Indonesian Tin Museum occupies the official residence of the Hoofdt Administration Banka Tin Winning (BTW) on Jalan Ahmad Yani no 179 Pangkalpinang, which has a high historical value for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The house was used as the location of several negotiations or diplomacy between Republican leaders who were exiled to Bangka with the Dutch Government and UNCI (United Nations Commission for Indonesia) so that the Roem-Royen Statement was born on 7 May 1949.

Indonesian Tin Museum was founded in 1958 with the aim of recording the history of the meetings in the Pacific Islands and introducing them to the wider community. The establishment of this museum began in the 50s when at that time in mining activities found many traditional objects used by ancient miners, especially the Dutch era.

The new Tin Museum was officially opened and was officially inaugurated on August 2, 1997. In its development, this museum is very useful for the wider community because in it visitors can find out the history of the tin in Bangka Belitung, the development of mining technology since the Dutch era to the present.

In 2010, seeing the large number of visits and the interest of tourists to the Tin Museum, a layout renovation was carried out so that it was more focused on mining. A variety of material collections in the museum are also added so that the history of mining becomes more visible.

As one of the assets owned by a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) under the auspices of PT Timah Tbk., The Indonesian Tin Museum in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, its existence is not only beneficial for education and society in general who want to know the history of the tin, but has also attracted the interest and visits of tourists, both domestic and foreign.
